February 12, 1992, NetWorld, Boston, MA Kodiak Technology announced today
its 12Plus2 Hub Series, designed for small, price-sensitive network
applications.
12Plus2 Hub Card Breaks $50 Der Node. -- An add-in card for the ISA bus,
the 12Plus2 Hub Card offers 10Base-T connections below $50. The 12Plus2 is
a full-size AT card that supports twelve 10Base-T ports, a BNC connection
and a full 16-bit network interface to the host PC. As a result, the
12Plus2 Adapter Hub can reside in a file server or in a workstation. A 6
foot cable with an RJ21 telco connector is supplied for connection to a
standard telco punch-down block or harmonica connector. Novell-Certified
software drivers are supplied.
12Plus2 External Hub Has Standard BNC/AUI -- Enclosed in a low profile 2"
high, 11" long and 4" wide housing, the 12Plus2 external Ethernet Hub
supports twelve RJ45 10Base-T ports, a BNC connector for thin coax and an
AUI connector. LED indicators for link detect, collision, power and
BNC/AUI active conditions are supported for diagnostic troubleshooting.
The 12Plus2 External Hub is wall-mountable and comes with a separate power
supply.

The Exploading Market for 10Base-T -- The acceptance of 10Base-T as an
alternative to thin coax Ethernet cabling has been dramatic. According to
Dataquest, Inc., a market research firm, 1992 shipments of 10Base-T
adapters will soar 84% to 2.70 million over 1991 shipments of 1.47 million
adapters. Kodiak will continue to drive down the cost of 10Base-T
connections by leveraging its access to Ethernet chipsets from SEEQ
Technology.

five-year unconditional warranty and a 24-Hour Replacement Policy.
Toll-free technical support is supplied from 8:00 a.m to 7:00 p.m. PST and
driver updates are available on a 24-Hour Bulletin Board. For qualified

quarterly rebate coupons and marketing promotional items.
PRICE AND DELIVERY -- Suggested Retail Price for the 12Plus2 External Hub
is $999 and product is in stock; The 12Plus2 Hub Adapter lists for $599
with production units scheduled for March.
